Onsen · Fuji Five Lakes · Day trips
I live in Fujiyoshida and keep a map of eleven day-trip baths around Mt Fuji, including natural hot springs, a sento and other bathing facilities. I checked their official pages on Wednesday 7 October 2026.
Nine are not on an extended closure, though each keeps its own closing days; Izumi no Yu was closed that Wednesday. Benifuji no Yu and Fujiyama Onsen are on extended closures. Compare the options below for Fuji views, tattoo rules, prices and transport.

All eleven are on Our map of these Fuji day-trip baths. Prices are for adults. “Not listed” means the specific pages checked for this guide did not specify that detail. It does not mean the facility lacks the service.
Which bath should you pick?
Mt Fuji from the water
Yurari names three baths with the view, two of them open-air, and Sensui advertises the view from its open-air bath. Neither helps on a cloudy day, so check the Mt Fuji visibility forecast. On the Hakone side, Ryuguden’s day onsen looks at Mt Fuji across Lake Ashi.
A late soak
Sensui takes the last guests at 22:30 and Yorimichi no Yu at 22:00. Sakura-an stops at 21:00 and has no weekly closing day.
Lower cost
Mitsutoge Green Center charges ¥410 after 17:00 (¥620 by day), and Tsukimachi no Yu ¥720. Taian Onsen, a sento, is listed at ¥430, but confirm the current price first.
Sauna and a cold plunge
Yorimichi no Yu has two sauna types on each side, different for men and women. Izumi no Yu has a 13.2°C natural-water bath beside its dry saunas, and Sakura-an a barrel sauna on each side.
No car
Yorimichi no Yu is next to Tsurushi Station. Yurari and Sakura-an run free shuttles from Kawaguchiko Station if you book, and the Fujikko-go bus has a stop named Ishiwari no Yu.

Tattoos. Izumi no Yu’s English page reads: “Guests with tattoos are welcome to bathe every open day between 14:00 and 17:00. No extra charge, no reservation needed.” At other times it accepts a tattoo “fully covered with a cover sticker”. Yurari does not allow tattooed bathers even with a sticker over the tattoo, though its restaurant and massage rooms are open to them. Sakura-an, Ishiwari no Yu, Tsukimachi no Yu and Yorimichi no Yu also turn away sticker tattoos. Sensui asks guests with tattoos not to use its baths, and Mitsutoge Green Center asks them not to use its large bath. Taian Onsen’s listing does not state a tattoo rule (checked 7 October). Each bath’s exact wording is in its card, and the general house rules are in our onsen etiquette guide.
Towels. Yurari and Sakura-an include a bath towel and a face towel. Sensui rents them (face ¥120, bath ¥230 since 1 March 2026), and Izumi no Yu, Ishiwari no Yu, Tsukimachi no Yu and Yorimichi no Yu list towels for a fee. Taian Onsen’s listing and Mitsutoge Green Center’s pages do not say, so bring your own there.
Cash. Sensui and Izumi no Yu take cash only, and Izumi’s ticket machine accepts ¥1,000 notes only (staff change larger notes). Yurari takes cards, PayPay, Suica and PASMO, and Yorimichi no Yu takes credit cards. Tsukimachi no Yu takes cash or cashless payment at entry, but cash only in its shop. For Sakura-an, Ishiwari no Yu, Taian Onsen and day bathing at Mitsutoge Green Center, payment methods remain unconfirmed in this guide. Bring cash as a precaution.
Two baths on the map are temporarily closed
Temporarily closed, checked Wednesday 7 October 2026
- Benifuji no Yu, Lake Yamanaka. Closed since Monday 28 September 2026 for repairs to its ceiling boards. The Yamanakako Tourism Association lists the planned closure through Thursday 11 March 2027; the bath’s own notice says “until March 2027 (planned)”. Its hot-spring stand and delivery service carry on. Confirm the reopening date before you go.
- Fujiyama Onsen, Fujiyoshida. Closed since Wednesday 24 June 2026 for an interior renovation. After an earthquake on Friday 26 June, part of the building was found to be damaged, and the bath extended the closure “for the time being” to repair it and check the whole building. As of 7 October, its latest notice, updated 27 June, gave no reopening date.
Benifuji no Yu advertises Mt Fuji from all its baths, but until it reopens, Ishiwari no Yu is the open bath on my list at Lake Yamanaka. Both are on the Fujikko-go bus route.
Izumi no Yu was closed for its regular midweek break on 7 October; the other eight were within their normal opening days.

Sensui (富士山溶岩の湯 泉水), Fujiyoshida
Sensui is a super sento near the Kawaguchiko interchange, attached to the Resort Inn Fuyo business hotel, with a morning bath from 6:00 and a last entry of 22:30, the latest of the last-entry times published for the baths on my list. It advertises Mt Fuji from its open-air bath. Its baths use Mt Fuji groundwater, and one, the “Futamata calcium carbonate” bath, has a mineral ore in the water; there is also a Himalayan rock-salt bath.
Price: ¥900; morning bath ¥650.
Hours: 10:00–23:00, last entry 22:30. Morning bath 6:00–9:00, last entry 8:30, not on Thursdays.
Tattoos: “We kindly ask that guests with tattoos refrain from using our baths.” (the site’s English)

Sauna and cold bath: men’s dry sauna 100°C, women’s aroma sauna 80–90°C; cold baths at 23°C (men) and 18°C (women).
Getting there: about 21 minutes on foot from Mt Fuji Station, on Fujiyoshida’s tourism page, or two minutes from the Kawaguchiko interchange by car. Its own car park holds about 100 cars; do not use the neighbouring shops’ car parks.

Sakura-an (日帰り温浴・サウナ 桜庵), Katsuyama
Sakura-an is the day-bath side of a spa hotel produced by the beauty expert Takano Yuri, on the Katsuyama side of Fujikawaguchiko. It calls itself a day bath and sauna. The open-air bath changes its additive weekly, and there is a carbonated bath and a long list of saunas. Children of primary-school age and younger are not admitted.
Price: from ¥1,600 on weekdays and from ¥2,000 at weekends and on holidays, towels included; from ¥1,100 and ¥1,500 after 19:00. Golden Week, Obon and New Year are charged at the weekend rate.
Hours: 10:00–22:00, last entry 21:00, with no weekly closing day; it closed for a maintenance week in February 2026, so check its news page in winter. Early bath 8:00–12:00, entry by 9:30, ¥500 off.
Tattoos: no entry with tattoos, stickers included.「暴力団関係者、イレズミ・タトゥー(シール含)のある方、泥酔の方のご入館は固くお断りいたします。」
Sauna and cold bath: a barrel sauna on each side; for men, a lava sauna with self-pour löyly and a salt-scrub sauna; for women, a bamboo-charcoal sauna and a steam salt sauna; a cold bath of Fuji source water.
Fuji view, payment, parking: not listed.
Getting there: about ten minutes by taxi from Kawaguchiko Station. Free shuttle, booked by 22:00 the day before (0555-83-5555): from Kawaguchiko Station at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00, and from Sakura-an at 9:40, 11:40, 13:40, 15:40 and 17:40, via the Fuji-Q Highland bus stop.
Official site: sakuraan.net
Izumi no Yu (富士西湖温泉 いずみの湯), Lake Sai
Izumi no Yu is a day bath by Lake Sai, run by Hamayou Resort, and it publishes a tattoo-friendly window from 14:00 to 17:00 on every open day. There is a rock-lined open-air bath kept at 38°C, dry saunas and a natural-water plunge. Watch the hours: in October it closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and usually at 18:30.
Price: ¥900 on weekdays; ¥1,200 at weekends, on holidays and in other set periods.
Hours, October 2026: Monday, Thursday and Friday 11:00–18:30; Saturday 11:00–20:00; Sunday 10:00–18:30, except Sunday 11 October, 10:00–20:00; Monday 12 October (holiday) 10:00–18:30. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays, including Wednesday 7 October. The November calendar was not yet on the usage-guide page on 7 October; the bath’s number is 0555-82-2641.
Tattoos: “Guests with tattoos are welcome to bathe every open day between 14:00 and 17:00. No extra charge, no reservation needed.” The rule “also applies to temporary and sticker tattoos”, and a tattoo “fully covered with a cover sticker” is welcome at any time.
Towels: available for a fee. The FAQ lists a set at ¥350, a bath towel at ¥210 and a face towel at ¥160, without saying which prices are for rental. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided.
Payment: cash only for baths and food; PayPay in the shop only.
Sauna and cold bath: dry saunas at 95°C (men) and 90°C (women), without löyly, and a 13.2°C natural-water bath.
Fuji view: the site mentions Mt Fuji’s summit and Lake Sai from the car park on clear days, not from the bath.
Getting there: Fujikyu’s Green Line circles Lake Sai. Its Junigatake-Tozanguchi stop is about 200 m from the bath, a three-minute walk on Google Maps, but only buses heading back to Kawaguchiko call there: every 30 minutes from 10:18 to 17:48, reaching Kawaguchiko Station 27 minutes later. Going out, it is quicker to get off at Saiko-Higashiguchi, 25 minutes from Kawaguchiko Station (buses every 30 minutes from 9:10), and walk about 1.6 km, also by Google Maps; riding round the loop to Junigatake-Tozanguchi takes about 70 minutes on the timetable. Free parking, including for camper vans.

Kawaguchiko or Fujiyoshida as a base? Our guide to staying in Kawaguchiko or Fujiyoshida compares the two.
Staying near Lake Kawaguchi
Yurari’s last shuttle back to Kawaguchiko Station leaves at 20:00 and Sakura-an’s at 17:40. Plan on a taxi if you stay later.

Ishiwari no Yu is a round, wooden domed hall at the foot of Mt Ishiwari, on the Hirano side of Lake Yamanaka. The water is strongly alkaline, pH 10.2, and there are open-air rock and hinoki tubs and a lukewarm source bath. The bath warns that entry may be limited for a while at busy times.
Price: ¥900, including ¥150 bathing tax.

Towels: towel ¥220 to buy, bath towel ¥180 to rent, at the shop. Rinse-in shampoo and body soap provided.
Sauna: a dry sauna on each side; a cold plunge is not listed.
Getting there: the Fujikyu Fujikko-go loop bus has a stop called Ishiwari no Yu, about an hour to an hour and a quarter from Kawaguchiko Station and about 50 minutes from Mt Fuji Station. A one-day bus pass for the Fujiyoshida, Oshino and Yamanakako area costs ¥1,800.
Bus times at the bath: 10:59, 11:53, 12:59, 13:53, 14:59, 15:53, 16:59 and 18:23, plus three earlier runs.
Last entry by bus: on open days from 1 to 15 October (the bath closes on Thursdays), the 18:23 arrives after the 18:15 last entry, so the 16:59 is the last bus that gets you in.
Return: the 18:23 is also the last bus out, continuing via Hirano back towards Fujiyoshida and Kawaguchiko, so plan to leave by then.
Parking: free, for 150 cars.

Staying at Lake Yamanaka
Choose a place within walking distance of Ishiwari no Yu, or arrange your return before you go in: the last Fujikko-go leaves the bath at 18:23.
Tsuru and Nishikatsura, down the Fujikyu Line
Four baths are in the valley towns that the Fujikyu Line passes between Otsuki and Mt Fuji Station, not at the lakes. Nishikatsura’s Mitsutoge Station is also a starting point for the climb up Mt Mitsutoge.
Yorimichi no Yu (山梨泊まれる温泉 より道の湯), Tsuru
Yorimichi no Yu is a modern onsen with guest rooms, a minute from Tsurushi Station, which makes it a convenient car-free option. One bath runs free-flowing spring water, and each side has two sauna types. It has been under renovation since 17 August: the annex is closed, and the bath is shut for maintenance on Monday 19 October.
Price: ¥1,300 on weekdays, ¥1,500 at weekends and on holidays. Lounge wear and towels ¥300. The bedrock-bath area is normally ¥550 extra, but the 5 August renovation notice said it would be opened free during the works; confirm at the desk.

Tsukimachi no Yu (山の中の天然温泉 芭蕉 月待ちの湯), Tsuru
Tsukimachi no Yu is the centre of a forest park in a wooded valley about 5 km east of central Tsuru, with a campsite, cottages and a barbecue area. Its site says a pond once stood here and that Matsuo Basho is said to have stopped in the area in 1683 and composed 「名月の夜やさぞかしの宝池山」. The name also refers to tsukimachi, the local custom of waiting up to worship the rising moon. The water is alkaline, pH 9.91, and the lukewarm bath is undiluted spring water at 32°C. The open-air baths look out at the surrounding hills.
Price: ¥720; residents of Tsuru and Nishikatsura ¥510.
Hours: 10:00–21:00, last entry 20:30. Closed Mondays, or Tuesday when Monday is a holiday: in October 2026, on 5, 13, 19 and 26 October.
Tattoos: no entry with tattoos, tattoo stickers or body paint.「入れ墨・タトゥー・タトゥーシール・ボディペイント等をされている方・暴力団関係者の方の入館はお断りします。」
Towels: face towel ¥120 and bath towel ¥230 to rent; body soap, rinse-in shampoo and dryers free.
Payment: cash or cashless at entry and for food; the shop takes cash only.
Sauna and cold bath: dry saunas at about 95°C (men) and 85°C (women), six people at a time, and a 13–16°C cold bath.
Getting there: most of Tsuru’s route buses were suspended in April 2026, and the bath points visitors to two shared taxis, both ¥300 for adults and both booked in advance.
AI Tsuru-to (on demand): 7:30–18:30, two cars; the bath is one of its stops. Register and book through the RYDE PASS app or call 03-3514-8319 (8:00–18:00), up to seven days ahead.
Tsuru-to Miyoshi (timetabled): from Tsurushi Station at 9:07, 12:37 and 17:47, reaching the bath at 9:59, 13:27 and 18:37. Book on 0554-22-2455 (8:00–17:00); the 9:07 must be booked by 17:00 the day before.
Return: Tsuru-to Miyoshi leaves the bath at 7:50 and 11:10. The last timetabled departure from the bath is 16:30. AI Tsuru-to is a separate service operating until 18:30, subject to booking availability. Confirm your return booking before bathing, or arrange an ordinary taxi.

Taian Onsen (泰安温泉), Tsuru
Taian Onsen is a neighbourhood sento in central Tsuru, renovated and reopened in December 2015, with ultrasonic and medicinal baths and morning opening. The Yamanashi bathhouse association lists it as a sento and does not identify it as a natural hot spring. If you have never used one, our guide to Japanese sento walks through it, and our Showa retro onsen towns covers older bathing towns.
Price: the association’s listing shows ¥430, which was Yamanashi’s legal maximum for sento until March 2025; the prefecture raised the maximum to ¥470 from 1 April 2025. Confirm the price at the desk.
Hours: 9:00–22:00. Closed on the first and third Mondays (5 and 19 October 2026).
Tattoos: the listing does not state a tattoo rule (checked 7 October).
Towels, payment, sauna: not listed. Bring a towel and some cash.
Getting there: about 400 m, five minutes on foot, from Yamuramachi Station on the Fujikyu Line, on Google Maps.
Listing: Yamanashi Bathhouse Association (Japanese)
Mitsutoge Green Center (三ツ峠グリーンセンター), Nishikatsura
Mitsutoge Green Center is a sports and leisure complex with tennis courts, a martial-arts hall, futsal, bouldering, cottages and a restaurant, and its baths are part of that. The centre describes its bathing water as spring water from Mt Mitsutoge, with bamboo-charcoal, bamboo-vinegar and turmeric herbal baths and an open-air bath by the Hishakunagare stream. Its hikers’ pack, ¥2,200, gives you a bath, a draught beer, three snacks and a lift to the station; the climb is in our Mt Mitsutoge hiking guide.
Price: ¥620 by day, ¥410 after 17:00; residents of Nishikatsura, Fujiyoshida and Tsuru ¥490 and ¥320.
Hours: baths 9:00–21:50. Closed Tuesdays (open every day in August) and the third Monday of February.
New Year: the regular schedule lists 31 December and 1 January as closing days, but the centre’s 2026–27 notice lists shortened hours of 9:00–20:00 from 30 December to 3 January. The two conflict, so confirm those dates with the centre.
Tattoos: tattooed guests are asked not to use the large bath.「タトゥーおよび刺青をなさっているお客様は大浴場での入浴はご遠慮いただいております。」
Towels, sauna, day-visit payment: not listed; confirm with the centre.
Getting there: 15 minutes on foot from Mitsutoge Station on the Fujikyu Line. Free parking for 30 or more cars.

Which baths can you reach without a car?
From Tokyo, the Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko highway bus is the usual way in, and our Haneda or Narita guide covers the airport buses.
By train
Yorimichi no Yu (Tsurushi Station, one minute), Taian Onsen (Yamuramachi Station, about five minutes) and Mitsutoge Green Center (Mitsutoge Station, 15 minutes), all on the Fujikyu Line.
By bus or free shuttle
Yurari and Sakura-an run booked shuttles from Kawaguchiko Station. The Fujikko-go serves Ishiwari no Yu, the Green Line passes near Izumi no Yu, and Sensui is about 21 minutes’ walk from Mt Fuji Station.
Book ahead
Tsukimachi no Yu relies on Tsuru’s bookable shared taxis. The last scheduled Tsuru-to Miyoshi departure from the bath is at 16:30; AI Tsuru-to also serves the bath on demand until 18:30.
Not on the Red Line
None of the eleven is on the Kawaguchiko Red Line sightseeing loop.

If you are planning several baths
Yurari’s and Sensui’s Mt Fuji views need a clear day. Check the visibility forecast before choosing between them and a valley bath in Tsuru.
Open the Mt Fuji visibility forecastIn early November, a soak fits well after the golden larches and quiet waterfalls on Mt Fuji’s slopes.
Mt Fuji day-trip baths: short answers
Which bath near Kawaguchiko has a view of Mt Fuji from the water?
Yurari in Narusawa and Sensui in Fujiyoshida advertise Mt Fuji views from their baths: Yurari from its open-air Reiho and Panorama baths and its indoor Takami bath, Sensui from its open-air bath. Benifuji no Yu at Lake Yamanaka also advertises the view, but it is temporarily closed.
Can I bathe with tattoos?
At Izumi no Yu, yes: from 14:00 to 17:00 on every open day, or at any time with the tattoo fully covered by a cover sticker. The other operating baths that state a rule turn tattooed bathers away or ask them not to use the baths; Taian Onsen’s listing does not state one.
Are Benifuji no Yu and Fujiyama Onsen open?
No. Benifuji no Yu has been closed since 28 September 2026 for ceiling repairs, with the planned closure running through 11 March 2027. Fujiyama Onsen has been closed since 24 June 2026; after earthquake damage it extended the closure, and its latest notice, updated 27 June, gives no reopening date.
Do I need to bring a towel?
Yurari and Sakura-an include towels. Sensui, Izumi no Yu, Ishiwari no Yu, Tsukimachi no Yu and Yorimichi no Yu charge for them. Bring your own to Taian Onsen and Mitsutoge Green Center, whose pages checked do not mention towels.
Can I pay by card?
Yurari and Yorimichi no Yu take cards, and Tsukimachi no Yu takes cashless payment at entry. Sensui and Izumi no Yu are cash only. For Sakura-an, Ishiwari no Yu, Taian Onsen and day bathing at Mitsutoge Green Center, payment methods remain unconfirmed in this guide. Bring cash as a precaution.
Which bath is easiest without a car?
Yorimichi no Yu is a one-minute walk from Tsurushi Station on the Fujikyu Line. Yurari and Sakura-an run free shuttles from Kawaguchiko Station if you book, and the Fujikko-go bus has an Ishiwari no Yu stop.
Which is the cheapest?
For visitors, Mitsutoge Green Center’s ¥410 after 17:00 is the lowest adult rate I could confirm. Tsukimachi no Yu charges visitors ¥720. Taian Onsen’s listing shows ¥430, but Yamanashi raised the maximum sento price to ¥470 in April 2025, so confirm it there.
